WHAT IS HELL DAY?

SOCOM Athlete has conducted 50 Hell Day weekends across the United States since 2017, immersing students into an intense team setting with world-class facilities & training environments. Hell Day includes: physical/mental challenges, teamwork, leadership & communication, large training logs, rubber training rifles, tactical litters, and more; replicating a training environment similar to Navy SEAL BUD/S Hell Week, USAF A&S, Army Ranger/Special Forces Assessment & Selection, USMC Basic Reconnaissance Course, etc. SOCOM Athlete Instructors/Mentors include the most credentialed experts in Special Operations Prep/Human Performance in the world

Students are first administered a Fitness Test, evaluating proper form & assessing 1.5 mile run times, max push-ups, pull-ups & sit-ups, a 500/250 yard swim (students not seeking careers with water requirements may choose not to participate in swim evaluations), followed by two sets of 25 meter underwater swim evolutions. Following the fitness test, students are exposed to strenuous environmental elements such as: cold water submersion, stress induced from instructors, team runs & ruck marches, challenging tasks & timelines, and more. Weaknesses & strengths are exposed in each student throughout the event, providing real-time proof/analysis of whether the student possesses the necessary traits to become a Special Operator. Traits we analyze:

  • Sense of Urgency

  • Water/Pool Confidence

  • Cognitive Awareness

Students quickly learn that working together as a team is paramount to successfully finishing Hell Day. Having never met prior to Hell Day, students finish the night as close friends, establishing a new bond as teammates. Many Hell Day students have gone on to accomplish their dreams of becoming Navy SEALs, USAF PJs, CCT, TACP, Army Rangers, Green Berets, and more.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

WHO CAN ATTEND HELL DAY?

HELL DAY IS OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, BUT HAS 3 REQUIREMENTS:

1. Must be United States resident w/ valid ID

  • Example: Passport, CAC, Driver's License, etc)

2. Must be Age 16 & Up

3. Must be actively pursuing a career in U.S. Special Operations

  • Example: Navy SEAL, Army Ranger, Green Beret, USAF PJ,  FBI HRT, USMC RECON/MARSOC, etc.

HOW GOOD OF SHAPE SHOULD I BE IN?

Hell Day is both physically & mentally challenging, placing students into an immersive team environment for up to 12 hours. How far are you willing to push yourself to become a Special Operator? Do you possess a "never-quit" mindset? There's only one way to find out... 

 

NOTE: Students are divided into ability groups based on physical performance in running, physical strength, and swimming;

  • Red Team: Advanced

  • Gold Team: Experienced

  • Green Team: Beginner

AT MINIMUM, BE ABLE TO ACCOMPLISH THE FOLLOWING: 

  • Run 2-3 miles continuously without walking 

  • Move 2-3 miles with rucksack/backpack weighing 30-45 lbs.

  • 25 perfect push-ups

  • Strength to lift, drag, or carry a 150-200 lb. person

  • 2-5 perfect pull-ups

  • Stay afloat in water and/or tread water for 2 minutes

  • Hold breath underwater for 30 seconds

  • Must be able to swim at a beginner level 

NOTE: The Fitness Test is the first event of Hell Day, and includes the following evaluations:

  1. 1.5 Mile Run

  2. Max Push-ups (2 Minutes)

  3. Max Sit-ups (2 Minutes)

  4. Max Pull-ups

  5. 500 yard/250 yard Swim

  6. (Optional) 25 meter underwater swim x 2 (2:30 interval) 

NOTE: Beginner swimmers & students pursuing Army Special Operations careers have the option to conduct the 250 yard swim test, and the option to not participate in underwater swim evaluations.

IS HELL DAY SAFE? ANY CHANCE OF INJURY?

Hell Day is a safe, highly-supervised event. Having conducted 50 Hell Day events in over 3 years, not a single student has suffered a serious injury. 

  1. Qualified rescue personnel & lifeguards are present at all times.

  2. Students receive multiple time blocks to hydrate, snack, and stay stretched throughout the event.

  3. Students are provided a detailed list of required equipment including 2 gallons of water, 1/2 gallon of electrolyte drink, and 900 calories of snacks.

  4. Students are divided into ability groups based on physical ability, allowing students to be challenged appropriately to their level.

  5. Hell Day curriculum & timeline was built to minimize injury.

As with any physically-demanding, outdoor event, minor injuries such as muscle cramps, bruises, heat exhaustion, and small cuts/abrasions are risks students must be willing to take. Students are provided time throughout the event to hydrate, snack, & stretch.

YES. We offer a variety of discounts to Active Duty U.S. Military, Guard/Reserve, Veterans, returning Hell Day students, ROTC/JROTC, DEP members, and SOCOM Athlete Group Chat members.

  • 20% Active Duty Military & National Guard/Reserve:

  • 15% U.S. Military Veteran

  • 10% ROTC, JROTC, DEP (DELAYED ENTRY PROGRAM)

NOTE: The Hell Day student themselves must be the active military member/veteran receiving the military discount; Parents who serve/served in the military and registering for their children are not eligible for military discounts unless the child is actively serving in JROTC, ROTC, Active Duty, etc

WHAT IS THE EQUIPMENT LIST?

The Equipment list includes mandatory items, optional items, as well as items that are provided.

The following items are PROVIDED:

  • Rucksack 

  • Multicam Pants & Tactical Belt

  • Training Rifle

The following items are MANDATORY:

  • 2 All Black Athletic T-Shirt or SOCOM Athlete T-Shirt

  • 2 All Black Athletic Shorts 

  • Official ID (Driver’s License, Passport, CAC, Learner’s Permit, etc.)

  • 1 Pair Running shoes

  • 1 Pair Extra Shoes (Will Get Dirty)

    • May Bring Boots instead

  • Snacks 600-900 calories (Quest Bar, Fruit, Beef Jerky, etc.)

  • 2 Gallon H20

  • ½ Gallon Gatorade/Powerade or Electrolyte Drink

  • 1 Towel

The following items are HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, but not mandatory:

  • Dive Mask or Swim Goggles 

  • Swim Shorts

  • Athletic Watch w/ Timer Mode

  • Red Light Headlamp

  • Sunscreen
